DAY 01 AIRPORT / NEGOMBO

Welcome to Sri Lanka! We Travelorphic has taken all steps to make sure your Holiday is safe, secure & Serene. Upon completing the airport formalities meet your chauffer at the airport arrival’s lounge. Board the vehicle and leave towards Negombo.

Negombo is a year-round destination boasting lovely golden sandy beaches and a charming old world fishing village atmosphere. Negombo lagoon is fed by a number of small rivers and a canal. The lagoon has extensive mangrove swamps and attracts a wide variety of water birds including cormorants, herons, egrets, gulls, terns and other shorebirds.

DAY 02 NEGOMBO /JAFFNA

After breakfast travel towards Jaffna.
The northernmost region of Sri Lanka. One of the oldest districts in lower South Asia, it is home to 900,000 people and marks one of the most densely populated areas of Sri Lanka. In Jaffna, meet friendly people with a rich culture in an ideal climate and setting.

DAY 03 JAFFNA

Breakfast at the hotel. Commence a city tour of Jaffna covering maximum of the sights like Casuarina beach, Charty Beach, Jaffna Fort, Jaffna Library, Kandarodei, Keerimalai, Naga Pooshani Ambal Kovil, Nagadipa Purana Vihara, Nainatheevu, Nallur Temple, Sangilean Thoop
Spend the rest of the evening at leisure.

DAY 04 JAFFNA / ANURADHAPURA / HABARANA

After breakfast travel to Anuradhapura.

Anuradhapura was Sri Lanka’s first Planned City and the First Historical Capital of Sri Lanka founded in 5th century BC gives a fascinating glimpse of a stately, well laid-out pre-Christian metropolis of massive Buddhist shrines and monasteries, splendid palaces, pavilions, and parks, bathing ponds and vast reservoirs, many of them are masterpieces of architecture, art, sculpture and engineering. Anuradhapura offers a host of memorable sightseeing highlights. The city had been reserved for the King, his ministers and for commercial activities and the suburbs had been planned as areas serving the city as well as settlements for ascetics. Site, is replete with renovated monuments, restored edifices, preserved ruins and historical sites where the archaeological excavations are still being continued. Anuradhapura was the cradle of glorious Sinhalese Buddhist civilization.

DAY 05 HABARANA / SIGIRIYA / POLONNARUWA / HABARANA

Breakfast at Hotel and leave to climb the Sigiriya Lion’s Rock and visit polonnaruwa.

Sigiriya Lion Rock: Climb the 5th century Sigiriya Rock fortress which is a UNESCO world heritage site, built by King Kashyapa (477-495). The spectacular citadel of Sigiriya rises sheer and impregnable out of the plains of the dry zone. It is the country’s most memorable single attraction, a remarkable archeological site made unforgettable by its dramatic setting. The rock was the innermost stronghold of a 70 hectare fortified town. A moat, rampart and extensive gardens including the renowned water gardens ring the base of the rock. Visit the world-renowned frescoes of the 'Heavenly Maidens' of Sigiriya, which are in a sheltered pocket of the rock approached by a spiral stairway.

Sri Lankan Cooking lessons followed by lunch
Enjoy and learn to cook a Sri Lanka style curry or two. You will have a chance to pick your own fresh produce from the Garden. The chef will teach you how the preparation is done and the cooking method. Once cooked this will be your Lunch for the Day.

Polonnaruwa The ruined capital of Polonnaruwa is one of the undisputed highlights of the Cultural Triangle and is a UNESCO world heritage site. The heyday of the city in the twelfth century represented one of the high watermarks of early Sri Lankan civilization. Polonnaruwa extensive and well-preserved remains, offer a fascinating snapshot of medieval Sri Lanka, including some of the island’s finest monuments and it is compact enough to be thoroughly explored in 3 hours. The Gal Vihara, a collection of magnificent Buddha statues carved out of sheer rock is not to be missed and a prime example of the craftsmanship of that era.
Return to the hotel and spend the rest of the evening at leisure.

DAY 06 HABARANA / DAMBULLA / MATALE/ KANDY

After breakfast travel towards Kandy. En-route Dambulla Cave Temple Ana Matale Spice Garden

Dambula Cave Temples is a vast isolated rock mass 500 feet high and a mile around the base. Here is found the famous Rock Temple dating to the First Century B.C. The caves of Dambulla sheltered King Walagamba during his 14 years of exile from Anuradhapura. When he regained the throne he built the most magnificent of Rock Temples to be found in the Island.
Visit a spice garden in Matale to see many different types of spices Sri Lanka is famous for. Just 25 km from the hill capital of Kandy, the Matale spice gardens are among the best on the island. You will be introduced to different spices and shown how some of these spices are grown and processed. A processing and training unit has been set up in the area and farmers are grouped in a cooperative to ensure fair prices and you will also be able to purchase spices.

DAY 07 KANDY

Kandy City Tour: Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Kandy which is a UNESCO world heritage site. The historic city about 480m above sea level surrounded by mountains was known to Sri Lankan as Kanda Uda Rata, which means the hill country. Kandy was home to Sri Lanka's last independent Kingdom, which survived two centuries of colonial incursion before finally falling to the British at the beginning of the nineteenth century.
Visit the Temple of the tooth,GemMuseum, The Royal Botanical Gardens, the Peradeniya University campus and catch a panoramic view of the scenic town from Upper Lake Drive.

DAY 08 KANDY / NUWARA ELIYA

Breakfast at the hotel.
Arrive at the Peradeniya railway station and embark to the train. Enjoy a scenic ride to Nanuoya.

Transfer to Nuwara Eliya. The beautiful town, set in the heart of Tea country and situated 1890 meters above sea level, is where the British succeeded in creating an English countryside with homes in styles from Georgian to Queen Anne.
Visit the Gregory Lake park, Tea factory & Tea Garden.

DAY 09 NUWARA ELIYA / HORTAON PLAINS / NUWARA ELIYA

Leave to Horton Plains National Park
Horton Plains in Sri Lanka, is the coldest and windiest location in the country. It consists of ecosystems such as Montane evergreen forests, grasslands, marshy lands and aquatic ecosystem. At an altitude of 2,100 meters above sea level, Horton Plains spreads across over 3,169 hectares of the highest tableland of the island. In view of the large number of endemic flora and fauna species, Horton Plains was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In order to get to the Horton Plains you will have to book a separate vehicle from the Nuwaraeliya in which the cost is not include.

DAY 10 NUWARA ELIYA / YALA

Breakfast at the hotel. Travel to Yala.

Afternoon enjoy a jeep safari at the Yala National Park.
Yala National Park, situated in the southeast region of the country covers almost 1000 square kilometers and is the second largest national park in Sri Lanka. Designated as a wildlife sanctuary in 1900, along with Wilpattu, it is one of the first two national parks in Sri Lanka. Leopards are the stars here, but it also has a large number of elephant herds. In addition, spotted deer, sambar, wild boar, wild buffaloes, sloth bear, jackal, mongoose as well as numerous birds inhabit this natural wilderness.

DAY 11 NUWARA ELIYA/ GALLE / BEACH

Breakfast at the hotel and travel toward your beach stay.

En route visit Galle and explore the heritage
The story of the Galle Dutch Fort; a UNESCO World Heritage Site reverberates through every traveler’s photo and caption. Initially built by the Portuguese in the 16th century during their conquests, the fort was later fortified and conquered by the Dutch in the 17th century, until it later fell to the might of the British. The old town of Galle was once used as a trading port for spices and other goods for over 200 years. However, today, the fort has been transformed into a place of history, romance and beauty where travelers are warmly welcomed to dive head first into the exotic stories and be a part of this heritage site.

DAY 12 BEACH

Spend the day at leisure.

During the day visit a Turtle Hatchery in Kosgoda. Enjoy a River Boat safari at the Madu River. If interested water sports in Bentota.

Turtle Hatchery Where you can see five species of turtles-Green Turtles (Chelonia mydas), Hawksbill Turtle (Eretmochelys imbricata), Loggerhead Turtle (Caretta caretta), Leatherback Turtle (Dermochelys coriacea) and Olive Ridley Turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea).
The eggs collected by the Villagers and Fishermen are purchased by the Kosgoda Hatchery and kept in sandy pens until they are hatched. The newly hatched ones are kept in seawater tanks and released to the sea in the night. This Hatchery alone has released more than 1,750,000 young turtles to the sea. An endowment by the Hasselblad Estate was responsible for the establishment of this hatchery

Madu River Between Ambalangoda and Iduruwa, Madu Ganga dances around the coastline forming a complicated network of lagoons and off-shoots. It’s fantastic birding territory and in praise of this it’s been made into a Ramsar site.
